Parsons for photography?

so I got into SVA, Parsons and SAIC so far, still waiting on RISD, NYU and UT.

I was wondering if anyone knew how Parsons measures up against the schools mentioned above for photography? I know they have a direct entry photography program that doesn't require as much foundation classes as other schools, which is a pro for me.

Thank you for any words of wisdom!

SVA photography program has been improving. They recently upgraded their photo equipment and facilities. Below is from this week's Visual Arts Briefs. Of the thirty photographers identified as "up and coming" three were SVA grads, two from Parson's, and two from Art Center. No other schools were cited more than once. SVA doesn't call it "direct entry", but their photo majors are not required to take traditional foundation courses. At RISD, foundation courses are a requirement. I am not sure about SAIC.

"PDN magazine has just released its annual “PDN 30,” which looks at the industry’s best up-and-coming photographers. The 2007 edition’s portfolio includes three SVA alumni: Shuli Hallak (MFA 2005 Photography, Video and Related Media), Dorothy Hong (BFA 2005 Photography) and Jamie Isaia (BFA 2003 Photography). The magazine puts together the list based on the suggestions of leaders in the field of professional photography and the final choices of the PDN staff. Work by all three alumni, along with 27 other young photographers, appears in the March 2007 issue of PDN and on <a href="http://www.pdnonline.com.">www.pdnonline.com.</a>"</p>

thanks so much for replying, I really love this board. =)

sixteenseries!
Congratulations on getting into SVA, Parsons and SAIC! :) I applied to NYU Tisch, but don't think I'll get accepted. I would much rather go to Pratt, FIT, or Parsons (if I get accepted) though because they offer more art/design majors. Well, good luck!

Only anectodal evidence, but a fashion photographer friend of mine went to Parsons, and her work is fabulous.

Any way you go, you've got some pretty good choices in there though.
