Part 1

for the part 1 of the usc app..should i put down my sat scores even though they aren't good?...and should i put down my intended majors (pharm or accounting) or put undeclared

it is not necessary to put your sat
part 1 is just to get your usc id.

will it have an impact on anything?..

i think it is just used to start a file with your name on it and to see how interested you are in USC.

But what I was wondering how they calculate GPA? THey ask you to put your unweighted GPA....what classes do not count?

i assumed that it would be the same as the uc gpa...but now that you've mentioned it...hmmm

unweighted is calculated by not giving any AP/Honor courses more weight than regular courses

on an unweighted scale
ALL classes are:
A = 4, B = 3, C = 2

on a weighted scale
AP/Honor classes are:
A = 5, B = 4, C=3
nonAP/Honor classes are still:
A = 4, B = 3, C = 2

Both your weighted and unweighted GPA should be on your high school transcipts (unless your school doesn't do one or the other), so you could ask your counselors for your exact GPA.

Not sure why you'd be applied to USC as a junior if you're not applying under the RHP (which ideally should be with a high GPA & high standardized testing scores). Hopefully by senior year, your stats will be higher & increase your chances of acceptance.

actually i'm a senior and i made the account in my junior year and i dont know how to change my sn...so yea kind of confusing to others but yea

OK, you can always re-take any standardized test if you believe you can study & improve. Grades are important, recommendations & essays/short answers can also be helpful. Just do your best & see how things turn out.

USC is one of the schools that does require standardized testing in any case. If you haven't, try taking the ACT & perhaps you'll do better at that than the SAT I & II; some folks really do much better/worse at one test than the other.

i'm filling out the part 1 application online right now and its due by tomorrow and it asks if i'm eligible for a fee waiver and i know i am but i need my counselor's consent but i haven't gotten a chance to talk to him..so should i just say yes? or should i say no and later on when i talk to him and he approves then i'll call usc and let them know...

do you HAVE to put a major down for part I?

and can u change it later if you do?

can't you just put undecided? and you can DEFINITELY change your major later...unless it's for a very impacted major like cinematic arts.

What if you later decide to enter a major that needs certain qualifications? Can I still transfer in Annenberg if I don't begin there freshman year?

Generally, it's considered pretty easy to get into most schools & departments. If you have SOME idea of what field you're interested in, call the school & inquire about declaring your major/school later after entering as undecided. It is not uncommon to switch majors.

Yes, you may transfer to Annenberg later on. Even if you're not in the Annenberg school, you can still take courses from there and have completed the same number of units as Annenberg majors.
