Part I Accidentally Requested Fee Waiver

So, I recently submitted my Part I and I'm getting ready to submit my Part II.

However, when submitting Part I, I accidentally checked the Request for Fee Waiver button and submitted it. When I pressed back to try to pay by credit card, it wouldn't accept my payment and says that I cannot access my Part I anymore.

I e-mailed MIT's admissions today to try to request for a way to pay the fee, but they do not work over the weekend. Does this in any way jeopardize my application?

I’m sure you’ll be able to get this straightened out with MIT on Monday.

I did the same exact thing. Here’s the exact response I got from the admissions office.

Hello tmanneopen

Thank you for your email. Please print a copy of your Part 1 from your MYMIT account and mail it to us, along with a check for the application fee of $75.00. The check should be made payable to “MIT Office of Admissions” and also include your full name. You may also attach a brief note, explaining that you no longer wish to request a fee-waiver. Please mail a copy of your Part 1, and a check for the application fee, to the following address:

Office of Admissions
Massachusetts Institute of Technology
Room 3-108
77 Massachusetts Avenue
Cambridge, MA 02139-4307

Please don’t hesitate to contact us again if you have any further questions.

Sincerely,

MIT Admissions

thanks guys, but MIT admissions has not responded to me yet.

is there actually a deadline for the fee waiver to be sent in and/or the payment to be made? I am getting really worried about this since Nov 1st is about to end and there is still no clear answer regarding how the payment fits into the deadline date.

will I receive a grace period in this situation?

I don’t have any official information on the deadline, but my experience with the admissions office is that they are very understanding, and that they are more than willing to waive hard deadlines due to honest mistakes.

Are you able to submit your application? That’s the most important thing – you can worry about sending a check tomorrow.
