the personal recommendation part of my application to a boarding school was waived! i had asked the counselor of my school to complete it for me and it was sent in last year in December.

what does it mean: they don't consider it in the application? there's something wrong with it? will it affect my application overall if there is something wrong with it?

It sounds like the school did not receive it, so they are processing your app without it. I would ask about that & if there's still time to send in a copy (hopefully, your counselor kept one). Since they did waive it, either a)Your app looks great and they want you with or without that rec or b)The opposite of a.

ahhh that sucks...hope everythin is sorted out now! =)

also one more thing: this isnt so related but i was wondering why NONE of the schools said that Past Grades from the last school year were needed! i didnt send them in (bc of course none of the applications i received said that that was required as well) and in turn received emails from the schools saying that Past Grades were missing...so then i had to send it in (traveling to a different school bc last year i went to a different school) to ask them to send it

I don't know what schools you applied to cOllidE, but all of the 5 we applied to and the 12 we have applications for, said they needed grades from the last 2 years. Hopefully you are all straightened out now.

The transcript release form should indicate what the school wants in terms of grades. All but one of the sch's to which D applied specified grades from 2 years.

This posed a bit of a problem for us b/c D is applying as a jr transfrer and that included her middle sch grades, which were unavail b/c the sch was in the middle of changing its e-archve system. Some schs waived the grades, others accepted my parent copy of the grades.

Only one sch did not specif 2 years - - and that sch confirmed that D's application (sans middle sch grades) was complete.

i applied to:
Andover
Exeter
Lawrenceville
Hotchkiss
Taft

5 schools...i never read anything about it in the packages sent..and if you go to the admissions part of their school sites now it doesnt say Past Grades were needed!...
i think im missing something since every other applicant saw that part.

cOllidE
all of those schools (and the common school report) request grades from sixth grade (if available) as part of what the school is to send. it is on each website as part of the formal application.
