Part Time Work vs. School Club Activities

I am currently a junior majoring in accounting in New York City Area. For the past year or so, I have been working part time at a local accounting firm. Before this, I was in an honor society but now that I have been working and going to school full time, I have given up any school activities.

How much does school club activities matter when compared to a part time job in obtaining a better career? A better career as in mid-sized firms. I wish I can work part time, be in a club and go to school full time. However if I do so, my grades won't be on par.

I currently attend CUNY and I do feel that the club activities aren't particularly useful or enticing.

Working experience is more important. Without it, you won’t be able to even get an internship.

Work experience is a must to get considered, but I can speak from personal experience that legitimate leadership, activity, and results in a large student organization can be just as impressive and/or prepare you better for the real-world.

If I had to choose bt the two…go with work.
