Average Household Income: 35,000 - 45,000
However, my parents experienced an increase of income last year making us in the 60,000-80,000 level. There are a total of 6 people in my family (2 independents-parents, and four dependents-siblings including myself. Both of my parents are still in school).

So, how can I compete? I intend to retake the SAT in October 2008 to break 2000, at least. I really want a 2100+, though.

I think you stand an excellent chance for JHU if you can get those scores up. The Ivies are less certain, because many of the other applicants have similar ECs. Howver, as a URM, you stand a better chance. Also, I don’t think there is such a thing as partial first generation, as both parents cannot have attended college in order to be called a first gen. student

I go to school in Summit! I do hope you get in wherever you apply.

Try taking the ACT. You might do better on it than the SAT. :)

Great job! My D’s “profile” was not that different from yours and she got in to 14 of 15 schools she applied to. Didn’t apply to JHU or ivies though. Good luck!

thanks for the comments.
bump, please. anyone else? chances?
