<p>I was part of a robotics team in seventh grade, outside of school. We built our own robot, programmed it to do tasks for the competition and did a research project on renewable energy sources. All over the course of a year.
We placed 3rd in the state out of the 50 that even made it to the state level. So likely 3/100.</p>
<p>Can I list this as an EC? I mean its not some frilly dumb EC like played football 7th grade, catch my drift?</p>

<p>They still wouldnt consider it. I dont think people even list the example of playing football in middle school.</p>
<p>Sorry, but colleges ARE NOT interested in what you did prior to 9th grade. In fact, the Common Application does not haver a checkbox for anything below 9th grade. </p>
<p>If you have continued your robotic team interests in high school, under the “Details, honors, and accomplishments” EC section, you could note the fact that you’ve ben involved with robotics for 5 years. But, other than that, there isn’t a place to list activities or honors in middle school.</p>
