Parties and Greek Life

Hi, I am not one for parties and I dont want to do Greek Life. Will I still enjoy Miami?

Sent PM, but to summarize, if you get involved in something you like or love, you will be happy. It is important to get involved in something though, no matter where you go.

I’m actually concerned about the whole party atmosphere because of the official class of 2017 page. These kids are posting about wanting roommates who party. I am under no illusion that kids in college are abstaining but to put that info out on an officially sponsored FB page is alarming to me. Shows just general poor judgement and immaturity to advertise that you engage in an illegal activity. I also question that the admins are not monitoring this page for those sorts of comments. It just looks bad to me; the parent who pays the bills.

^what class page? (sorry, I just haven’t seen a class page yet, so I haven’t seen such comments, and this would be something I’d be concerned with as well, since I don’t really party much at all)

Walker - I’m jealous you’ve even seen the page! My DS2 currently has Miami as his number 1 choice but he hasn’t joined any FB page for the schools he’s been accepted. They’ve upped their FB security since DS1 was accepted to Miami two years ago. I could easily snoop then!

I think immature kids might think it’s cool to act like they’re partiers. There are absolutely partiers at every school. Last year, DS1 had three kids from his freshman dorm who were kicked out of school for violations (drinking and pot). Miami takes it very seriously.

MikeCort2 - my son did not go Greek last year and he still absolutely loved Miami. He actually did go greek this semester, though, but I can attest to him having a great time without greek or partying in your life. wildwood is very correct in saying that as long as you get involved in something, you’ll be fine whatever path you take at whatever school you choose.

Anybody can join the Miami University Class of 2017 page. I joined it just to creep :).

That is very “creepy”
