As a NU RD Applicant and being exposed to NU's social life for my overnight visit, I was shown the fun side of NU which made me want to attend for my Undergraduate Degree, anyone who goes here have anything to say about it?

The party scene is whatever you make of it. You can be perfectly happy never going to parties and just hanging out with friends instead. On the other hand, you can party 3 or 4 times a week if you want to. The parties aren't going to be as good as the ones at state schools, but they serve their purpose

I'm not a reliable source, but I've heard there isn't much of a dating scene. Any current students want to agree/disagree with that?

Also (sorry to sound shallow), is the hook-up scene mainly limited to frat/sororities? And how is it among engineering students, if it's any different?

As for the dating scene, I'm in a wonderful relationship...but it certainly does fall into the "basically married" category. I have no problem with that, but lots of people complain that, at NU, the two extremes (random hook-ups and basically married) are just about the only options. I can't really pinpoint exactly WHY this is, but it seems to hold true for most of the couples/relationships I've seen on campus.

As for the hook-up scene, I think it's mainly associated with the party scene, which may be heavily associated with fraternities/sororities, but shouldn't exclusively be.

party scene is pretty consistent and can get a bit boring, going into the city is always a nice change up
i've only really hung out with the athletes (mainly basketball players) and they are a ton of fun, however i always see people in at 10pm on saturday nights in their dorms which i find weird
i am not going to nu, it is way too close to my home for me
i guess to sum it up i would say there are good things to do (frats, hundo, the keg) but it all gets a little repetitive
