Northeastern was my first choice for a while until i heard alot of stuff about how strict boston is with curfews and how little partying there is there. Not to be superficial, but a fun college environment with parties would definately be nice, and its a factor in my decision for next year.. so i was wondering what the social/party scene was like at northeastern and is it really as dry/strict as people make it out to be?

no.

There is no curfew of any sort, there are plenty of parties. "Dry/strict" are not words that come to mind. Bars are strict, definitely, so to get into bars before your 21 you have to have a really good fake. But parties are everywhere, and there are more students out on the streets at 1am on a saturday night than there are at 3PM saturday.

thanks so much for your reply. I'd be so mad if i passed up northeastern because of stupid stuff i've heard if it wasnt true

I’m headed up to Northeastern next year and was wondering on how tight security/RAs are on drinking on campus (in dorm rooms). Also I know Bars are real strict on IDs, but wat about lq stores? Also is there alot of multi-college partying with like, BU, MIT, etc? Thanks alot.

party life is nothing compared to a state school, say UMass or UNH… doesn’t even come close in my book. Its ok, but nothing special. They will tend to be small as it is apartments and no houses (unless you know someone in the suburbs), also expect booze here to cost a pretty penny. Its affordable, but by no means cheap. (compared to smaller states, NH, VT, ME, etc; as well as the fact that you are in the city)

RA’s, depends, some are lax, others are real stiffies, just the luck of the draw. They usually won’t make a fuss if you are not being loud. However, if caught they will most likely write you up.

You can try, but you will most likely fail with a fake, unless it is someone’s old real one (ie. a now 23 year old gives you their license and you look exactly like them).

Parties happen with other colleges as well, you just gotta go over there and look for em.

If you can’t find good parties in Boston you’re an idiot. If you’re a reasonably social person you’ll have no problem finding a good party whether it be at NU, BU or MIT.
