It's been quite awhile since my last post. Even had to change my screen name when we changed email providers and I fouled up my CC password :-).

Our Daughter just graduated from the U of Iowa 2 weeks ago - on time and in 4 years! My wife and I choked up but cheered wildly as her name was read and she walked across the stage at Carver-Hawkeye. Our D had a fantastic experience as a Hawkeye and has certainly grown up a lot over the past 4 years. She's now off to join the "real world" and has found a job in her major. She has made many great friends here and has many treasured memories.

A special thanks to all the great posters / contributors to the U of IA threads. While I was not a frequent poster, I always read with interest the view points of others. Beastman, Izzie, Rwe, MMOB, Coolbrezze and the rest - your comments and insights were always appreciated.

The absolute best of luck to all you current / prospective students and your families. The University of Iowa is a very, very special place. I trust that your students will come to love and appreciate it as much as we do.

Congratulations to you and your daughter! Especially on the job! I rarely check here any more but just popped in and am happy to see your post. My son has another year, he didn’t go to school fall semester because he was doing a co-op. He’s actually in school this summer adding on a business minor. He still loves being a Hawkeye and we love that he found the perfect place for him.

Congratulations, B10P! I have missed you here on CC but one would hope that after 4 years we’d all run out of things to say!

I’m delighted to hear D got a job “in her major.” So often that is not the case. To me, this is where the rubber meets the road - finishing is one thing but getting a job with hopes of independence is the real prize.

My son will graduate one year from now. He’s doing a co-op this summer and fall semester and has 2 remaining classes. We think. We’re not entirely sure but a degree audit is in-process and we no longer torment ourselves over these little details. We do not ask, “in 4 years was it not possible to pick up these two classes here or there?”

In any event, in 50 short weeks I’ll take my place as you did and share your joy and pride.

Great to hear from you. I’m pleased to hear that your young Hawkeyes are doing so well. All our best to you, your kids and your families. Take care.
