Partners in Science 2018

Hi All,

I noticed that a thread for the 2018 Liberty Science Center Partners in Science program has not been created yet. I applied to this program, but have not heard anything back from them.

Has anyone received their results?

Nope. Still waiting…and according to the linked pdf (specifically the timeline) it says the selected students interview with their prospective mentors from April 18th to 29th, so I’m a bit nervous to not have received anything yet.

@FrenchHorn240 Gooooood, that means that April 18th we can expect to get stuff back.

Hey – I’m still waiting too, also worried about the fact that interviews are supposedly coming up and I haven’t heard a response back.
Would you happen to know when results came out last year?
Which fields did you guys apply for btw (I did env sci, genetics, engineering)

@eskeetit123 You haven’t had your interview yet? I thought that they were over by now. I had my interview around three weeks ago.

I applied for chem/bio. Both are super super competitive fields, but that’s what I am interested in, so can’t do anything about that.

Yeah I thought that interviews had ended long ago, that’s why I expected results to come out soon. Did you decide on an interview time and email LSC?

@hyperpi314 @greenwave2019
Oops I was referring to the interviews with assigned mentors, lol sorry for the confusion.

Anyone received communication?

@cshigh Not yet…

Nothing since scheduling the interview at LSC last month. What projects did the organizer suggest you to? Mine was nanotech at Stevens.

I was also told Stevens :). I have a backup that I have to communicate by tomorrow. LSC is first on my list.

Ok, it seems like nobody has received anything yet. I was a little worried since I remembered hearing that Round 2 interviews will start on April 18th, which was yesterday. @cshigh @MiuMii2 @FrenchHorn240

Would like to know also on respect from college admissions on this program, and rigor of this program. Is it seriously 40 hours per week for 8 weeks? I got to do SAT as well in Aug - do or die.

Got a response - didn’t make it :frowning:

Didn’t make it, thought did well. Well, this is hard part in learning to accept it. I get the thoughts on how it hard it will be on college admissions in future. :frowning:

@cshigh Yeah, similar sentiments here. Do you know what you’re going to do for a backup plan?

@eskeetit123 I got acceptance in unpaid research in bio-engineering in a nearby college for 6 weeks. I am going to accept it. Hope it will be interesting project and experience. Blessing in disguise, I will get time to prepare for SAT/ACT.

@cshigh That’s great! I was actually interested in trying to find research opportunities in that field, so I plan to send out some emails to professors. If you did something similar, any advice?

Just saw my rejection email too.

Congrats to those of you that were accepted! Just a warning: I did research in computer science, and I did not have that great of an experience. Some of my other friends did other research programs and they had a much more fulfilling summer than me. I would recommend looking into other programs if you did get accepted into CS.
