Hello. To all those who go to Yale, I was wondering what the social scene is like at Yale. Are there a lot of parties? Enough parties? Or is it mostly study?

I'm really looking for a good balance. Enough studying to do well but also enough partying to have fun!! Any news would help!

It's a very social school. There are lots of parties, ranging from official residential college theme parties, like Casino Night, to tons of parties going on in the residential colleges suites every weekend to frat parties. The parties are usually open to anyone who wants to drop in. There's not a lot of exclusivity on the campus. There are lots of great bars around campus, cheap movie societies showing great movies, several musical and theater productions each weekend. It's a campus where (almost) no one harasses you if you don't drink, but if you want to party hard, you can do that as well.

Back in my day there was something called Feb Club where there was a party every night during the dreary month of February and something called Tuesday Night Club that happened, guess when, every Tuesday night. A good portion of students go out on Thursday nights.

Some of the details may have changed and I'd love to see current undergrads comment, but I think it's a surprisingly social school, not the nerdfest (don't get me wrong, I love nerds) your average person on the street would imagine it to be.

The physical layout of Yale makes for partygoing very easy. Also, it's a pain to go off-campus (i.e. to NYC or Boston or other cities) so there's a lot planned on campus.

Ahhh... Feb Club... I remember it well... my Senior Year our entryway ended up hosting three of them. I don't know why...
