I always see people posting about what there is to do other than party, but since this subject is rarely covered, it seems like there's much left to be said.

I like to party every once in a while, but I don't want to go Greek because of the commitment and expenses. How do non-Greeks party?

Are frats generally lax about letting people into their parties and is it true that SU tried to get rid of the frats and now campus security is at the parties?

okay, well there is definitely a lot to do at SU besides partying–there are small cafes like Funk n’ Waffles that have live music, plus there’s the entire city of Syracuse. however, if you want to be more moderate than Greek life, but still want to go out, the drama and band groups often host too…depending on the frat, they have different standards–it’s easier for a group of girls to get in than a group of guys, some parties are brothers only, etc…campus security will break up some parties, but as long as there aren’t a lot of complaints they usually leave them alone.

Marshall street is technically off-campus and has a couple of bars, and there are several in Armory Square…however this IS where security has started cracking down so don’t bother trying to get in if you’re underage.
