Party Scene at Villanova

I’m a prospective student for Villanova and although I love the community and academics of the school, I have some hesitancy about its party scene, or apparent lack-there-of. As a freshman girl, will it be difficult to find parties? How intense are parties at Villanova? Are all parties far from campus? And lastly, how frequent are big parties at Villanova?

I’ve heard many things about the party scene but they’re all in forums from a few years ago, and I’m hopeful things have changed!

Thank you!!

@dots17 I do not go to Nova and I don’t know if my info will be helpful or not. But… I do know two students who are freshman at Villanova now. From what they tell me the party scene is nothing like it is at many other schools. They are really not any parties on campus. Most parties are off campus and are held by upperclass students. If you are looking for those huge parties that happen on campus, nova isn’t the school for that. There are plenty of other activities to do socially. In the end, seriously think about what you want your college experience to be and try to find the best fit all around. Not sure how helpful this was but I heard the same thing from two different students. Good luck to you!

@dots17 Nova freshman guy here, do not worry at all about party scene as a girl. Freshman girls have the opportunity to pretty much party every weekend Thurs-Sat if they wish. It’s harder for freshman guys but even I have had no trouble finding parties if I really want to find one. As for the locations, yes, all parties are off campus. People pregame in dorms but thats about as far as it goes. I would not worry about that though, for frats you just text them and set up a pledge ride to pick you up. The houses off campus are pretty nice and you don’t have to worry about them being busted.

@paraffineatable dude that’s such a relief to hear… I’m a guy and all I’ve been hearing is that it’s basically impossible to find parties as a freshman guy. Glad to hear that’s not the case.

@willt31 Trust me, I heard that all of last year. My advice is to get involved right out the bat with whatever you are interested in the most. A lot of the club sports teams and clubs in general have tons of parties and formals. If frats are your thing, try to make connections and reach out to any of the upperclassman from your high school that you know in them. Connections mean a ton here, but don’t let that intimidate you because once you finally start getting in to parties it becomes easier and easier since you meet more and more people. It took me a month or two to finally figure everything out, so don’t give up or get down on yourself if you struggle at first.

Hey everyone! I know that I shouldn’t weigh my college decision too heavily on the party scene, but alas it is a factor!!! Do you have to be 21 to get into the bars by nova/ are bars popular? Do those in greek tend to have a better social life? Thanks if anyone can answer!

@keurig83 There’s definitely a bar scene but I wouldn’t say its a bar school. Some kids just prefer bars over frat parties. Freshmen year theres like two or three bars to choose from that either don’t ID or you can use fakes at. It becomes much more fun once you are 21 though because you can get into Kelly’s and Maloney’s (both hard on fakes). I wouldn’t say those in greek have a better social life, it really just depends what you prefer. If you want, you could go to the bars every weekend and just hang with friends. Or, you could choose greek life and go to parties every weekend, it’s all based on what you prefer.

As someone who goes to nova, the party scene is pretty weak on campus. I think most of this has to do with the fact is that there is no official greek affiliated housing. However, if you are into parties, Drexel, Temple, and UPenn are a 20 min train ride into the city, which isn’t too bad. There are also parties off campus, but they tend to get shut down pretty fast.
