Party Scene at Wellesley?

Hi! Right now, I’m deciding between Wellesley and a couple other similarly-ranked LACs. I love everything about Wellesley (professors, campus, support) and am really into the idea of going to an all-womens college which I think is super empowering. The only thing that’s stopping me from fully committing is the social life, or lack thereof.

I am a bit of a party animal in high school and am worried that I won’t be able to find my niche at Wellesley.
I have a “work hard play hard” mentality, and I find that when I don’t “play hard”, I fall into a bit of a slum and find it hard to be productive/ become generally unhappy. Will I be unhappy at Wellesley? How easy is it to go to MIT/Harvard parties? Would I be able to find a group of girls that are willing to go out Friday and Saturday night?

I’ve been thinking about your question for a little while. It’s definitely not impossible to find a friend group that will go out with you, and it’s not hard to go to MIT/Harvard parties. Wellesley has a bus that goes into Cambridge every 30 mins. on weekend nights. Partying isn’t the default at Wellesley, but it’s not unusual. You’ll have to work a bit to find a compatible friend group, but if you’re ok with that, you’ll be fine.

No question that you will definitely find girls to go out with / party hard with, on both Fri and Sat nights. Kudos to you for realizing that you need to play hard in order to feel not just balanced, but productive/happy.

Hi, Wellesley Junior here. My friends have found ways to invite themselves to parties I didn’t even know existed. LOL. Social life at Wellesley can be a bit of a drag if you’re more of a party person, but there are always tons of crazy parties going on off campus. I have no doubt you’d find people to go with as well. Hope this helps!
