I really like most aspects of UPenn but am a little worried about the party scene (yeah, I know). I’m not into wild parties at all and am a little worried about the social life at this “social ivy” outside of parties and [heavy] drinking. (ok, stop laughing already. I’m serious.) Thanks.

You've gotta be kidding me. Yale, Harvard, Princeton might have a slightly smaller party scene, but they're also much smaller schools (population-wise). Seriously, give me a break man, this is UPenn we're talking about, not UCol-Boulder or ASU or Buffalo. The population alone allows a vast array of things to do, and UPenn definitely has a wide variety of EC's for you to involve yourself in. Calling UPenn a party school is like saying John Travolta is a pilot; sure, Johnny might fly big jets a bit moreso than most actors, but at the end of the day he's still known for being an ACTOR--he flies his jets as a supplement to being an actor, just like UPenns might supplement their incredible education with a bit of partying. Some people might indulge themselves in parties slightly moreso than the other Ivy's, but at the end of the day, it's still an elite Ivy League school man, the number 4 school in the nation according to USNews. This isn't some haven for drunks.

Or you can apply into the STWing of KC/EH. Or so I hear from the stereotypes.

While Penn has a fairly large party scene because of its location (in a city) and heavy Greek life, the social scene definitely DOES NOT revolve around it. Your social scene is what you make of it. If you don't like parties (clubs or frats), don't go to them. Have a gathering in your room, attend an event hosted by one of the many organizations, or do anything you'd like. Not everyone drinks heavily, many don't drink at all, and not everyone is out at a party every weekend. There is a scene for everyone, one of the many benefits of going to a large university.

As far as dorms go... the quieter dorms are KC/EH, Stouffer, and Gregory. KC/EH has a large Asian population because the Huntsman people are housed there. The Quad (Ware, Fisher, and Spruce/Riepe) and Hill tend to be more social, and better for meeting new people, especially in your first year.

I've gone for several weekends in a row without "partying" and still had fun. Yes, it is possible at Penn.

RC0813, I just want to say that the Travolta analogy is awesome :p

Haha thanks, it was the first thing that came to mind.
