UGA and UMich are the first that come to mind… I suppose UVA and OSU also fit.

Even at so-called ‘party schools’ there will still be a wide variety of activities that students will enjoy. How students spend their free time varies widely regardless of what school you attend. Choosing to attend (or not attend) a particular school because of its party reputation is a terrible way to narrow down your list of schools to apply to.

No college football though.

“Although it is not very well-known, Berkeley has an oasis for Greek life among major universities on the West Coast.”

This ^.

The frat row is CRAZY before and after football games.

East Carolina University

UC Berkeley

believe it or not duke students party hard

Cal, Duke, Michigan, Penn and UVa are not “party schools”. Students at those schools party, and there is no shortage of parties on those campuses, but I do not think they qualify as “party schools.”

So then Alexandre, what is your definition of a party school?

Having been to the campus dozens of times and knowing many many people that go here, UW-Madison is a great party school with awesome academics. Highly recommended. I go to another state school in Wisconsin, and just party in Madison whenever I can. Haha.

Knockaround, my definition of a “party school” is a school where the majority of the students care more about partying than about studying and where the academic demands and rigor of the school allows students to party several times weekly. At schools like Cal, Duke, Michigan, Penn and UVa, most students care more about their education than they do about partying, and the academic demands to maintain a reasonable GPA does not permit for constant partying. The concept of “work hard, play hard” at those universities is similar to that of professionals in responsible positions; 5 days of hard work, and two nights of partying…at the very best.

Wisconsin, Texas, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Princeton, Penn, Dartmouth, Virginia, UNC, Penn State, UMass, Rutgers, Boston College, Bucknell, Lehigh, Miami (FL and OH), Duke, Virginia Tech

Lehigh University :)

Just to elaborate on my post… I attended Lehigh for a year before transferring out, and there are parties Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday morning and Saturday night. And people go to these, too. The nights in which parties are most crowded are actually during the week - Tuesdays, Wednesdays (“Wacky Wednesday” parties are popular, with kids dressing up in all sorts of costumes), Thursdays and Fridays. Saturday nights as not as popular as kids are pooped from the day drinking that goes on. In the fall semester, there are pre-games that start as early as 8AM calling “Mocos” or “Morning Cocktails” and in the spring, there are barbecues at the frat houses.

Howard University!

University of California-Santa Barbara
University of Wisconsin- Madison

These two schools come to mind immediately. Both quite well-known and large enough to have enough students of every type, including hardcore partiers and hardcore studyholics.

Dart and UCLA are the high-tier party schools, but require too much work for the true full-time party boy/girl.

OSU is a tier below in education/prestige versus UCSB and UWis

UGA does have a scholarship program other than HOPE.

In my opinion party schools that are also academically strong include:

University of Miami
University of Michigan
UCSB
Vanderbilt

I don’t know if these are true, complete “party schools” in the traditional-4 or 5 party nights a week, but they do offer a great combination of partying and high caliber academics.

USC - Univ of Southern Cal. Big party scene, amazing academics. If you go Greek it’s even bigger. The Row is ****ing insane.

UCSD - Huge parties all the friggin time. No need to go Greek here, and very good academics.
