Party Schools

How predominant is drinking, hook-ups, etc at BC and UVa?

Very uncommon. Go to Brigham Young University for a real party experience.

seriously, Brigham Young? Do you know anything about BC or UVa?

Actually, I heard that Brigham Young University was fairly conservative, especially if you compare it to wild party schools like Boston University and Bob Jones University.

As for the original question - the common stereotype is that state schools are more like party schools. So if you go by the stereotype, UVa has that party school atmosphere. But it’s also the state flagship so it’s also a really strong academic school and it’s obsessed with Thomas Jefferson, who was an American politician of some note.

It’s one of the most conservative in the country, I hope the person’s being sarcastic.

I doubt it; DCHurricane is a well-respected and prominent member of the College Confidential community with a long record of over 330 posts. I don’t think he would intentionally risk misleading someone who is genuinely seeking advice or opinions about a college-related matter.

that’s obviously sarcasm.

ask your question on these schools individual collegeconfidential forums

thanks. at least one person’s being helpful

it was a joke dammit

And yes, ask on the individual forums. Although I’ll give you some anecdotal evidence: the folks I knew who applied to BC and UVA were the party-hard (or at least somewhat hard) types.
