So I'm by no means a party-hardy person, but I do like the availability of partying that frats provided (i.e., I'm actually a fan of Greek systems like that of Dartmouth). Now, I love pretty much everything else about Rice, and I know that NOD is wickedly awesome, but the party scene (or potential lack thereof) on a typical weekend still worries me. Is it pretty easy to find a good party (as in something more than just people playing pong)? Also, how's the social life just generally down in Houston?

there's always stuff going on. huge party tomorrow. everyone's wearing togas! kinda fratty 0_o

bacchanalia was amazing!! i would say that there is something going on every weekend. and thanks to facebook, it is pretty easy to find events to go to.

The colleges do a pretty good job of filling the function of frats by throwing large parties, except I'd argue that they actually do a much better job since there's none of the exclusiveness of a frat. (everyone's welcome at all of the public parties.) They also coordinate a lot of smaller gatherings (IM sports, barbques, super-bowl parties, etc.) that, while not exactly the giant frat-party scene, are generally pretty fun.

there is always a party dont worry
