<p>We’re not talking to 99.9% of the prospective law student population. We’re talking to the prospective law students on the CC law school board. The majority of posters here – maybe even 99.9% – are seriously interested in YLS.</p>
<p>And 95% of those who apply to Yale won’t get in.</p>
<p>Yeah, especially if they think you’re trustworthy, and make decisions based on your statement that dropping from 3.9 to 3.8 is “nothing.” People who take your advice shouldn’t bother dreaming of YLS.</p>
<p>Anyway, I appreciate your apparent admission that your obligation to give accurate advice is diminished when the person you’re advising is interested in the most selective schools. That will really help the CC population decide how much weight to give to your posts. I won’t be putting you on ignore, since I think it’s important to respond to this kind of misinformation, but applicants should.</p>

<p>Realistically only 0.1% of law school applicants get into YLS. Statistically that’s a tiny chance. Anyone who counts on getting into YLS is an idiot or some distant cousin thereof. Everyone thinks they’ll be in that 0.1%. Newsflash: 99.9% of you won’t (this includes me). It’s better to presume a rejection when you apply to HYS. If you get in, great. If you don’t, it was a crapshoot anyway. But hey, if you want to put together a shrine to Yale Law School in your closet and start going to therapy when you don’t get in, that’s fine by me.</p>
<p>A vast majority of even the CC population won’t get into YLS. They admit maybe 250 prospective students, assuming 70% matriculation. Assuming 50% matriculation, 350.</p>
