Pass/Fail- How bad?

How bad would it look to pass fail 8 credits out of a 22 credit courseload in one semester? It's just two classes- a 5 credit 1st year Japanese class and a 3 credit 4th year Russian class. I'm a linguistics major but am applying to get a master's in speech pathology. Thoughts?

I would never take a course P/F in my major. But I certainly would add courses for fun or extra knowledge and take them P/F instead of not taking them. Subtract the 8 credits and you have a 14 credit load. Your intended field of study shouldn’t care about the extra classes, in fact they should be impressed if you maintain excellent grades that semester. Remember you are in college for YOUR education, not just to look good to grad schools. This is your chance to learn about things that you will never get to for many reasons later. Years later you can still have that grad/professional degree with or without the fun courses or extra knowledge. Go for it while you have the opportunities.

Last year, I spend a quarter taking 16 out of 28 units P/F. My two cents.
