At our school, you are allowed to take a course Pass/Fail. This means that you dont get a grade, no A's, B's etc. it doesnt count toward your gpa at all. if you pass, you get credits. you can take only one course like this. Is it a good idea? Im in pre-calc and im getting a B, which is the lowest grade i have (all else is an A) im wondering whether i should take the class pass fail so it doesnt affect my gpa. still, im not sure whether classes want to have a P instead of a grade. Thanks!

Btw: yeah i know that complaining for a B is bad, but still this is cc so oh well lol. I dont want to hurt my gpa anymore (its already bad, according to cc standards) Thanks for your help!

I think a college would see a P and assume the grade is a C- (or the minimum passing grade).

Study hard, go to extra help sessions or ask to meet with the teacher before tests, read your textbook, ask your friends, do your homework, look online, and keep trying.

If you have all A's and one one pass/fail, I don't think it would look that different from all A's and a B.
So especially since your GPA benefits (even a tiny bit) from the pass/fail, I would go ahead and pass/fail. It would be a waste to not use it at all.

I was wondering about this, too. However, mine was a woods class and I didn't get an 'A' because I was sick too much, according to the teacher. I can get a "P" anytime within my high school enrollment. THis one 'B' is keeping me from being the valedictorian (it counts towards my GPA and my rank--- even though I've taken a more rigorious courseload than anyone in my school and I self-study APs and take online classes. ) However, I think my principal will do whatever it takes to get an 'A' instead of a 'P' on my transcript. I wouldn't EVER take a 'p' for an academic class like pre-calc. I have a 99% and the highest grade in the class--- Contact me if you need any help.

yeah, my teach is making my life difficult. i dunno how i want to go about this. still, the B will only take me down about a point (4.0 to 3.9) so im not sure what i should do. i think more than 50% of my class is taking it pass/fail. so im not sure how i want to go about this.

my grades were terrible in frosh year and for the 1st semester of junior year, im trying to avoid anymore hits in grades.
