I am taking 16 credits, 4 classes, one of which I'm taking pass/fail (language). Assuming I pass, how will top schools look at this- will they look at it as if I took a light schedule? Any thoughts?

bump anyone?

Credit/No Credit classes usually look like a "C" if you pass, except it isn't factored into your GPA. As for "top schools", I have no idea. :)

Not true at all. A "C" (or C-) is the bare minimum grade you can receive in the class to even get a "Pass" at most schools! As long as the class you're taking Pass/Fail isn't related to your major or minor, it's not a big deal. Just don't make a habit of it. I had two P/F classes on my transcript when I applied to Michigan as a junior transfer and everything went smoothly.

I wish my school had that option. However, I would only use Pass/Fail for certain classes, such as Calculus I & II.

considering how calc 1/2 is a prereq for every single college i have ever come across, i think it's not a good idea to take it pass/fail. the same goes with the rest of your prerequisites and major-related classes. in the admissions process, they would MUCH rather see you take it and GET the a, rather then take it and get an ambigious grade.
