I will probably take 2 classes this spring and am planning to go for the pass/no pass option for one of the classes that is not required for my major. Since Berkeley usually has a "conditions of admission" stating that students must keep a 3.0 gpa with no grades lower than a B or C, I was wondering if the p/np class would be assigned a grade value such as a C for pass. Or will they just look at the one class that I am opting for a grade to meet the minimum 3.0 gpa.

For the following requirements, letter grades are required, and the P/NP option is not appropriate: Entry Level Writing, Reading & Composition, Foreign Language, Quantitative Reasoning, and most major requirements (check with department for possible exceptions).
