Hi

Spring quarter just started on April 1st and over the spring break, I decided to change my major to political science while I was admitted as pre biz economics.
I took four classes during winter quarter and I got As in three classes but ended up with B- in my math class. Since I changed my major, math class is not required for my degree and the bad grade only hurts my GPA. my quarter GPA will change from 3.6 to 3.9 (which is a significant change) if I change the grading system to Pass/Fail base. How likely is it that college will let me change the grading system even though the quarter ended? How should I defend myself when I submit the petition? I've once rejected by the college when I petitioned with late enrollment so I know they are not that generous enough. :(

Are you saying you can file a petition to change a course grading system to P/NP even the course is over?

If it were up to me I wouldn’t allow you to change it after the end of the quarter.

yes that’s what I think. Because the website states there is 35 dollars of late fee “after the last day of instruction”…

what is the link to the website? “after the last day of instruction” does not mean “after the grade is up”.

Again, this does not make sense. If $35 can change your overall GPA, a lot of people would do that. :P

@xxCollegesxx, you need to chill, dude. LOL

There needs to be compelling reasoning as to why the class was not taken P/NP at first. At the time you took the class, you believed it was necessary to take it for a grade, and so I would be shocked if they accept your petition.

yeah that’s because I decided to change major after winter quarter.

On Late Credt Detail Change Petition Form, it says
Please note that this petition is rerely approved. The following are insufficient reasons for a petition to change late credit detail: poor or superior academic performance, poor judgement in choosing classes, change of major. or illness.

then for what other possible excuses are some ppl’s petitions approved?

Stop trying to get it changed and accept the fact you got a B. You know, if you get all A’s in your new major, you can make up for the B in the long run and the B will virtually have no effect on your GPA
