Pass or No Pass

I was wondering if I were to do a Pass/No Pass for a math class, would that be good?

Also, I have another question concerning when to do the application and transfer. I would be done with community college at the end of Fall 09. When should I do the application and when would I be able to transfer? At this moment, I have 9 units and taking 12 units at this moment. I would like to apply to UC Berkeley, UCLA, and UC San Diego.

Thank you very much.

If it’s for IGETC / Major requirement then no. IGETC (at least in my CCC) & (most, if not all) major requirement courses need to be taken with letter grade (completed with C or better). If it’s a non transferable math class (Trig, Algebra), I don’t see why not.

Most UCs except for a few, generally accept transfers in Fall. That means, you apply in the previous fall. For example, for Fall 09 transfer, you apply in Fall 08 (Nov 1-Nov 30 is filing period). If you’re done with CC at the end of Fall 09, then you might want to try for Spring 10 transfer (not all UCs accept it though). If you decided to transfer for Fall 10, then your application should be done in Fall 09 (Nov 1-Nov 30).

Does UCB, UCLA, and UCSD accept transfers for Spring 10?

I can’t really say for UCLA or UCSD, but for Berkeley you can’t apply as a Spring transfer. The only way to enter in Spring would be if you applied for the Fall semester and instead of being admitted, you got deferred to the Spring semester (as opposed to being rejected).

Thank you very much for your help, Cr3sc3nt and grey_syntactics. If I applied to Berkeley for Spring 10 and get rejected, am I still able to apply to UCLA, UCSD, and Berkeley for Fall 10? Also, would it be a good idea to do the application process in Spring 09 in which I would only have 21 units and a limited amount of EC?

I’m fairly certain that UCLA and UC Berkeley do not have spring transfers. Like grey said, the only way you’d get into the spring is if you were deferred from the fall semester; even then, however, it would be for the NEXT spring.

Also to the questions I asked previously, if I were to apply for Spring 10 and not have my English and Math requirements completed, would that be a problem?

You can not apply for Spring 10.

And yes you need to have your GEs finished before transferring.
