passed a class and now a year later my college doesnt want to accept it!

My fiancee has just graduated as a RN, she was received an email from her community college of the list of her classes showing all completions. A few days later, she received another email from the same college saying that a speech class she took (from them and passed) was now unacceptable. This class was taken in 2008. She has records of her college showing that is was accepted as far as 2010, but now out of the blue they are saying it doesn't.

Isn't there a certain year limit that a class is good for that was acceptable at the time of the catalog from that college you were at?

How does she proceed to resolve this?

Any help is appreciated, thanks.

She needs to contact the Registrar’s Office and the head of her department at her CC and ask about this. It could be that when she first registered for classes, the program that she was in had one set of requirements, but that by the time she graduated, the requirements for her program had changed. When this happens, a student usually can choose which set of requirements he/she wants to graduate with. Sometimes, when there is a licensing issue involved, students have to graduate with the specific courses that are required for that license. It is a real headache, I know. If her old course can’t count because of specific new requirements, she should find out what she has to do. If there are enough students in her situation, the CC may be able to put together a special course just for them that includes any different material.

Good luck!
