Very sad day for the Garrett family and the entire Cornell family. May her memory be a blessing.
She was only president since last July! So sad.
I just came on here to talk about this. I am really upset. I’m not an active alumna, but for some reason this is really affecting me. First female president of Cornell, only 52 years old, and in her first year of her position. She seemed to be an excellent president, and I was looking forward to her long tenure there and seeing what she would do.
Here are two articles that I think demonstrate her priorities and the type of person she was.

Condolences to her family and Cornell, she will be missed.
I just read this article on President Garrett. She was brilliant and beloved. Such a loss!

That is very sad
So young. She could have done great things at Cornell. I am sure she will be missed.
Really heartbreaking. My condolences to the Cornell community.
Parent of a class of '19 daughter. A terrible loss for the Cornell community. We saw her at convocation and got to meet her at the freshmen meet and greet. She was extremely impressive. My daughter tells me the campus is just in a state of shock. Not as upbeat and vibrant this week, as you can imagine. You can find the student memorial tribute and chimes concert in her memory on youtube. Very moving.
Between 1-2,000 students attended the chimes concert, and a memorial service will be held today at Bailey Hall.
The service will be live-streamed, for anyone interested.
