"passing with flying colors"

On the MIT acceptance letter, it vaguely reminds us that we should still pass the year with flying colors. The question is, what exactly constitutes these "flying colors?" Is an A- still flying? A bit droopy? Do they look at how they drop from your previous grades? (i.e. What if I had maintained A+ grades and they dropped to an A- (or even B+), would it look worse than if I had A- grades to start with?) I guess I'm getting senioritus, and I'd like to to focus on hobbies of mine, study for math/physics olympiad, start free-lancing for web design, etc.

How much can I afford to slack off?

Try not to get any C’s and you’ll be fine.

I can’t give you a hard numerical answer, but yes, you should be fine provided you’re not straying into C territory. Avoid Bs if you can but we will probably not revoke your acceptance based on that.

We basically want to see that you don’t totally slack off once you’ve attained a specific goal, if that makes any sense.

I’ve been terrified of getting rescinded since I got in. I got a C in Physics C for first semester and it’s doubtful I’ll do any better this term (though I’ll try!). I’m really not slacking off, I just suck in that class. Am I going to get rescinded?

Sorry for threadnapping.

exactly, but for me it will be in AP Literature^

I’m soooooooo worried! I think I’ll be getting a B in physics b
can you get rescinded/revoked for ONE B?

…

What do you think?

No, you will not get rescinded for one B.

What about A ?

Don’t just give up, you are smart enough to be accepted at MIT. Work hard and try to get A in this semester.
