I'm really passionate about politics - how can i show this? I'm not a senior so theres plenty of time for me to get a fairly big project in the works. I mean, I want to go beyond just attending meetings and being on a debate team. I want to make a truly tangible difference, even if its just in my local govt.

Does your school have a "Young Democrats" or a "Young Republicans" group? These groups often get active volunteering during the fall on various election campaigns, as well on Election Day at the polling stations. Or you could even volunteer on your own, which also can count as community service. Believe me, the campaigns always welcome volunteer help. I know that we're out of the election season, but since you're not a senior yet, there's always next fall. In addition, some school boards have student representatives/liasons...maybe that's something else you could look into.

domestic or international politics -- there are many options for each, but they tend to be different.

One place that I think would be interesting, different and effective is to get involved in local/city/municipal/county politics. From the school board to zoning board, if you do some checking -- there should be opportunities from internship to part-time work.

yeah, im part of young democrats, youth council, mock legislature governments and all kinds of stuff like that. i also volunteered extensiviely with this past election.

however, this doesnt really show passion. all i had to do was join a committe/organization and work with them. I haven't had a chance to start anything or come up with a project that would really showcase my genuine interests.
