"Passion" ?

So this passion that admissions is looking for.. can it be anything? Because when you look at my extracurriculars honestly ypu wouldn't be impressed but I do have a part time job that I pour my heart and soul into and I would say I have a passion for. Is this something that can be used at an example of passion. I hold a leadership position and put in about 25-30 hours a week

Yes, there is nothing wrong in saying you are passionate about your job.

Totally agree with texaspg. Your passion could be for anything. Their idea is that people who are passionate about things are the type of people who can be passionate about (and thus dedicated to) anything.

This is from a 2008 thread regarding advice from the admission officer who admitted a CCer to Stanford:

“First, he was really clear was that he really wanted to see passion in an application. An (approximate) quote: “I don’t care if their passion is shoe shopping. A passion for anything means they are the type of student that will be passionate about other things.” So my first advice is to make sure your essay(s) show whatever you are passionate about.”

And this is from Richard Shaw, Dean of Admission and Financial Aid:
“I care about kids who have passion and who I think enjoy their life and dig deep or delve into things that they love. It’s not just going through the movements, but rather, hopefully, developing a passion for what they’re doing–whether it’s a love of physics or a love of fencing.”
