<p>Yes, I would go ahead and apply for one before R-Day. It will be one less thing for your cadet to worry about down the line.</p>

<p>My first time out of the country with West Point was in February of Plebe year. Having it handy is really useful – plus, it will last you 10 years.</p>
<p>Dont stress too much if you dont get one. If you get selected to go on a trip, you will have plenty of time to get one here.</p>
