Does someone know the past essay topics of Columbia Collge?I can't find in their web.And I just want to have a look.

The topics don't seem to change much. There's one long essay, your Personal Statement. You can basically write about anything you want; it's completely open. The two short essay questions I remember are Why Columbia? and your favorite activity. The short answers have strict character limits, so you don't get very much room to elaborate.

What is the approximate length requirement?

Personal Statement = about 500 words

short ones have character limits, so we are only talking about a few sentences.

My personal statement was way longer than they suggested. I still got in.
Just don't bore them.

mine was about 750 words, and I didn't even originally write it for Columbia, and I got in...

if your'e having trouble thinking of something, try looking at some schools who have less general prompts which can still be considered a personal statement

My personal statement was only about 300 words and was initially written for Princeton...

Surprisingly, I got rejected at Princeton, but got into Columbia.
