What is the salary of patent law straight out of law school (T14). How are the hours.

7 figures. starting salary. + signing bonus.... just make sure you keep working on that 4-seamer.

... seven figures? Did you mean six?

It's a sports reference.

He's obviously not serious.

Maybe you weren't his target audience.

Watch baseball.

I was wondering what "4-seamer" meant in the context of law.

Can i get a number like you start at 120,000 and assuming you make partner youll make around 1million at a top firm.

Six figures can mean anything between 100,000 to 999,999.

And do any biglaw firms practice patent law.

Biglaw firms do have patent lawyers. Many of the top patent firms are boutiques - only practice IP law. The pay is similar to biglaw. Most of the attorneys going that route have advanced degrees and many have PHDs. You would also need to be a member of the patent bar.

How are the hours at a boutique? Similar to Biglaw i presume with that salary?

Yes, hours are the same. Big salaries come with a price - time.
