Um. it really depends. I spent some time (like once or twice a week) from Februrary through April studying, then really kicked it up in May. I wish, in retrospect, that I had studied more.

I do think that, if you review well (don't just take the exams, but figure out how they are structured and learn the shortcuts) that you could review your way to a much-improved score.

Take a practice test, see how you do, and consider what score you are aiming for. I got a 163 or something on my first practice test, so I figured that I didn't need to kill myself studying.

Wow where'd you get those rankings?

Those are the US News rankings.

I just finished up a practice test and got a 158. I am hoping that with 2-3 months of studying (about 2-3 hours a day) that I can get that up to 168+. Does this sound reasonable? My biggest weakness was the logical reason portion (of course they had to have 2 sections on it too), any suggestions on how to improve this would be greatly appreciated.

Improving Logical Reasoning:
1. Figure out what the right answers are. You've gone through a practice test. Look back at the ones you got wrong (and the ones you got right!) and see what the answers are. Do this for every question. By the end of this (and it should take you a few hours), you'll have a better idea of what the questions are asking and why you did things wrong.

Pick up both Kaplan & Princeton Review books. They have very different methods for teaching the LSAT; one will resonate more than the other. Use that one.

Find Xiggi's threads about SAT prep. His advice applies very well to the LSAT.

If you post a question that you're still stuck on, we can all help. :)

I really recommend going through the test in sections for a while. Don't worry, you can do full-length & timed exams later. For now, build accuracy. Take as much time as you need to on each question.

Yeah I'm toughing it out on the logical reasoning. But I already know how to fix problems with standardized testing. Did it for my english ACT. Thank god I'm great at logic games. Only missed one my first time.
