Anyone go to med school for that?

A pathologist is a physician who has completed a 4 year residency (post-graduate training) followed by another 1-2 years of subspecialty training (called fellowship). You cannot become a pathologist unless you have first completed a MD or DO.

I know a current 4th year med student who will specialize in pathology. (She’s also a MD/PhD student who earned her PhD in biochemistry; she will specialize in immunopathology and cancer immunology.)
