This can't be for real.
.. Right?

This can't be for real.
.. Right?

...why not?

The ones on the side seem cheesy... and dubious.

I think the OP was referring to the Patricia M. McNamara Memorial Scholarship though. The ones on the sides are just ads that probably generate income for the site.

Why wouldn't it be legit? They list past winners, they've got a form right there for you to fill out, it doesn't cost any money, and they've contact info. Sure, they've got ads all over the place, but that doesn't make them not real.

http://www.ropage-group.com/

Shrug. Just seems questionable.

Well, I'm applying to this one. FastWeb had it featured and since my school's ISD reccomends it, I assume the majority of their scholarships are reliable.

rabbit23, how'd you discover the ropage group scholarship

On the About Us page: "The Patricia McNamara Memorial Scholarship was started by the owners of Ropage Group LLC"..

And I googled it from there.

Sorry - I misread your question. I found the scholarship through scholarshipexperts.com.

I showed this thread to my dad, and he said that although they don't ask for any information right now, it would be wise to be careful if you do win the scholarship. Right now, you're only risking your email address (and your time), but they might ask you for other personal information that you would probably give up if it were a legitimate scholarship.

The website is mad sketchy, with grammar mistakes everywhere, the aforementioned advertisements, and the weird description of the Ropage Group. "Bringing together web users and pertinent information" totally sounds like an ad agency looking for people to annoy.

I already wrote half an essay, but I'm probably just gonna give up 'cause I don't trust it.

Plus, the lack of samples from real winners (writing fake essays takes a lot more effort than fake bios) and the fact that the website is down right now (the deadline's in like 5 hours) bother me. Kinda weird.

Yeah, it does look kinda phony. that's why I'm not applying

why waste my time?
