Does anyone have any advice to offer about Patriot League recruiting? My D is a Soph and just in the initial phases, but has some strong interest in two Patriot League schools that we visited this Spring. She is most likely a good academic match for the schools and I think an athletic match as well but I don't think they would be affordable to us unless there was some financial assistance from the athletics. I do know in past years there was no official athletic scholarships except for basketball but I'm not sure if that has changed since the Patriot League now offers 13 scholarships in football. Anyone been through this before? Does anyone have advice? insight?

sharing her sport would be helpful and GPA & test scores. In our experience with Patriot league there is no athletic $ but they can be very generous with merit/FA $ especially if it’s an athletic recruit that they really want.

Sport is field hockey. She has just shy of 102 GPA. Only tests to date are soph PSATs which were 64 math and 59 CR. We know those are low but expect they will go up as that test was Oct of Soph year.

Dragonfly: another parent of a FH sophomore. There are some older threads inside the Athletic Recruits tab that talk at field hockey. Several parents were kind enough to send me private notes about their experiences. Best of luck!!!

dragonfly12 - Son was recruited by Patriot League school for baseball. In our experience, we received a much bigger FA offer package from two Ivys (the following week). It was a take it or leave it offer from the Patriot FA office and they were not easy to deal with (so we didn’t). I hope you have better luck.

PM me if you would like some info. Next year Boston Univ joins the Patriot League. At that point, there will be 3 schools offering athletic scholarships for field hockey: BU, American and Lafayette.

pardullet, Thank you for the offer, but I can’t yet PM since I don’t have 15 posts yet. I will work on that and send you a PM as soon as I can because I could definitely use the info. We are just starting in the process and it seems very confusing with lots of unwritten rules/guidelines. The sport itself is so political and I’m guessing that it all carries over to the recruiting too…Thanks again.

thanks Threesdad…did get your PM but cannot yet respond due to a lack of posts…
working on that!

BU is joining the Patriot League? I thought their admissions would be less competitive than the others in that league; my son is targeting BU as a “probably” with a few Ivies as reaches.
