Paul Merage School of Business

How good is this program? I received an email describing this program saying how only 125/4200 people got in. Is it that small? How many people are actually in this program? I am interested in the benefits that I get for being honors.

Are these real perks that will be super helpful or are just there to lure people to irvine?

If I recall, it’s either last year or this year that the School of Business will admit undergraduates for a degree in Business Administration so don’t expect much feedback.

It is what you make of it.

Put it this way, the Merage program is only the third undergrad biz program in the UCs (Cal-Haas and Riverside are the other two). Thus, while Merage’s undergrad program is new, it’s a great alternative to a Cal State or USC-Marshall. While Marshall is highly regarded, its a lot more $$.

And, yes, those types of perqs are huge at a large, public Uni. (Altho #5 could be worthless if the MBA student is not (ahem)…_

I’m not entirely sure about the perks, but the undergraduate program at UCI just began this past Fall 2008.

And it’s also a capped major, if that tells you anything…

Oh. I already got in this and was wondering if it is better to do undergraduate biz or do engineering/science and get an MBA. Does doing undergraduate biz helpful in the long run?

Depends. Do engineering now or never. Or do business now or later.

bump. how would merage compare to USC marshall?

Merage vs. Marshall (USC)
–New vs Established
– 9K vs 38 K
– 125 freshman in major vs. $ or 5 times as much
–New, unproven vs. Established, well-known, highly ranked
–New but rare undergraduate B-school other than Haas in the UC system in filed with high demand, therefor impacted
–Next year, freshman at UCI will not be able to apply for business major, only pre-business and then reapply late sophomore years to get into major.
