Paul Tulane Award Applicants

@threebeans, Good luck to y’all too! Oh, this would make our lives so wonderful.

@luckymama64 Do you know by chance if Deans Honor Scholarship notifications are also going out the 15th?

The lady I spoke with indicated all of them.

Oh wow that’s great. Thanks for the info!

even Stamps @luckymama64 ?

As I understand it, if you get either PT or DH, they will contact you about Stamps. I seem to remember that Fallen Chemist (God bless his soul) said that.

How will we receive notification about merit scholarships on the 15th?

@Harryp17 UPS Delivery

For those that were contacted for interviews, would you mind sharing your stats?

my S was contacted for an interview. He has a 1550 SAT, 35 ACT, and is a National Merit Finalist. He has taken more than ten AP classes and I don’t know his GPA although he has had all A’s in high school. He also has ties to New Orleans as it is where I was born and raised.

Based on your sons stats, I would think they were interviewing him as a possible Stamps recipient. Will be interesting if more chime in with stats… Best of luck to your son!

My daughter has similar stats,35 ACT, 1500 SAT, NMF, tennis team captain, choir, in-state. But, kind of annoyed b/ she emailed the person twice and they never got back to her. She even emailed her admissions counselor about it and no reply.

But they contacted her originally?

I know it’s silly to try to predict these outcomes but my daughter was not contacted for an interview at all. She has good stats, but lower than both of yours: 33ACT (34 if SS), 4.0UW, 4.7 W, NM commended scholar, lots of EC’s, ASB Pres., etc… She applied to the PTL, which will be the only way we could afford to send her. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that these interview requests were indeed for Stamps, and not an indictacation of PTL.

It’s impossible to predict since they don’t tell you why you’re asked for an interview, which they state is not required by the way. It really could be completely random. For what it’s worth, the “interviewer” was an alumnus who answered my son’s questions. My son interviewed him. He applied for both the PTL and DHS and we are hopeful that he will receive one or the other. Stamps would be great too, lol. The scholarship is not do or die for us, but since my husband is at retirement age it would be really helpful. Your daughter’s stats are great and I truly hope she receives a scholarship.

Thank you! I try to keep the prospective that “if it’s meant to be, it will be”. Meanwhile, this last month of waiting for decisions is excruciating!

It really is but I am pretending to be calm. My son had to comfort me when he was deferred at U Chicago early action. I felt kind of bad about that. For him U Chicago and Tulane topped his list.

Your son sounds sweet. I think my anxiety is only adding fuel to my D’s. Harvey Mudd is her top choice but we both realize that it’s a big reach both academically and financially. Tulane and UCLA are her more realistic top choices…but reaches as well.

I was contacted for interview and was told that the interview was for the top applicants. I only applied to paul tulane award but hoping for a stamps interview if possible. My stats are 4.0 uw, top 1% of class, 35 act, 1570 sat, 10 ap classes along with rigorous IB classes. I also founded a club, volunteered abroad, published research, and started an international fundraiser drive

Thanks. Based on the stats so far and only 50 PTL’s, I think my D’s chances are slim. However, your stats and the others posted definitely deserve it more.
