I went to pave last summer and I’m going to Vandy this fall so hopefully I can help!

I believe there is, but not a whole lot. None of my friends received any.

Everyone lives in the same dorm, girls on one side and boys on the other. The first floor is a common area where everyone hangs out. Theres a big room with bean bags and a few study rooms and music rooms. Bathrooms are kept really clean which is good. The lobby has TVs and a bunch of couches and people hung out there too. Overall the dorms were really social and I actually enjoyed them.

There’s no meal plan, which is good and bad. Mostly everyone just eats off campus because there are so many great spots to eat. Chipotle, pancake pantry, panera, pinkberry, mellow mushroom, and cafe coco are all right off campus. You get like $200 on your ID card to use at the dining hall but pretty much no one goes there and they blow that money at the bookstore or doing laundry. The dining hall food actually isn’t bad, it’s just that the hours are HORRIBLE and it’s pretty much always closed except for lunch and the dining hall is literally the farthest place on campus from the dorm. Definitely not worth the walk. The hospital cafeteria has really good food and is really close to the buildings you’d have classes in. Plus it’s on the card, which is nice so you don’t have to spend your real money on it.

I’m going to PAVE this summer and I CANNOT WAIT! My sister went to PAVE a few years ago and she said they ate at Rand hall right next to the dorms. Maybe they were renovating this past summer?

I am a mother of a current high school junior and looked into the summer PAVE program. I do not know anyone that has personally been through the program but I can tell you that it is NOT selective. There is a student that I know personally that was accepted into the program that doesn’t have a high enough GPA to be selected for NHS, which is a 4.25 at our high school. Her ACT score was 18. So don’t believe the hype that it is uber selective because it is not. It appears that the earlier you send in the forms and pay the deposit the better your chances are for being accepted.
