PAVE program

lol does PAVE provide any financial aids? I didn't find any info online....
it looks like a very nice program, but its wayyyyyyyy 2 expensive ==

I'm not sure but if you call the office I'm sure they could give you information. I was just accepted into the program but I still haven't made up my mind entirely. I have a week to send in my deposit. Can anyone who has gone provide some insight into their experience at PAVE? 6 weeks seems very long.

They DO give financial aid. Just write a letter telling them that you need it and you'll get some.

PAVE is awesome! Every weekend you can do some kind of activity such as canoeing, white-water rafting, laser tag, paintballing, etc. And movies are every Friday (if you want to go, you don't have to go).

Though, the work is pretty annoying. In the morning you have a vector calculus/engineering class followed by a science class then followed by a computer programming class. If you don't like engineering (I don't) then it's going to be a little boring/frustrating. But I love science so the science classes made it worth it.

In the afternoon you have another math class to reinforce what you learned earlier. Doc V and Mazita (your amazing math teacher) proctor. And then you have a 45 minute break and then you have computer class for you to do the assignment that was given in the earlier class. After 3 or 4 pm you're done for the day. So you can hang out with your friends in the gym, in the pretty grass on alumni lawn, in the Vandy/Barnard dorms, wherever. You're given a ton of freedom. It's great.

And don't worry about finding friends who are like you. Personally, I sway to the nerdy side so I was able to find people like me. The majority of people there, though, are normal/preppy. So if that's you, then you win.

One caveat: a decent amount of girls/guys are just there to hook up and kind of screw around to have a fun summer. You'll find that group when you get there. They don't go to class and don't really care about school work. You just ignore them. I did all the work and I still had the best summer of my life!

lol sounds cool
alright im applying!!!
but do I just write a letter? why don't they put it as a part of the application?

Yeah, just write a letter saying why you want to attend. I took the humour approach and it worked (though I don't think the letter is that important). =]

Again, also write a letter stating you need financial aid!

I just sent in my deposit! Post here if you're going this summer as well :)

lol Im applying to PAVE, CMU SAMS and probably summer@brown
just wanna get in any one of them XD

From what I've read, it seems that everyone who applies to PAVE gets accepted so I wouldn't worry about getting in.

i might be going to pave

It's going to be the best summer of your life.

i have heard that alot. i also have a question though, my grades arent exactly enough to get into vanderbilt. so would doing pave help? thanks.

I'll tell you that come April.
