So here is the dilemma. I am a grade 12 high school student in Canada. If I go to a Canadian university here such as McGill or U of T I am pretty sure that I can attend these great universities for a near cost free price with bursaries, dad's workplace bursary, etc...

However my parents have said that they can also support a US undergrad education that is in the 40k plus range. Although it is sort of true with my dad's workplace bursary... going to the states will most likely cost me about 10-20 k a year. The thing is my SAT scores aren't spectacular. I'm predicting that I will barely break 2000 this December or 2100 if I work a bit harder right now.. so I don't really think I'll be getting into any of the uber elite schools in the states. Still, attending a US school is tempting because I know I want to settle in the states later on and that my dream is to attend a professional school like yale med or some sort of grad school at the big names later on. Wouldn't applying as an undergrad in the states be helpful?

Although I am still going to try my best and apply to us schools just so that I have the option to choose in may...
What would you do in my situation? Would you even be considering American schools? Do you think that going to schools such as McGill or U of T makes it extremely difficult to get into the states after graduation?
