Right now, I have two options for college: Purdue, which I got in for Computer and Information Technology but plan to transfer to CS as soon as possible, and the University of Hawaii, which I got in for CS from the start. I applied for the regular decision instead of the priority one, and as a result qualified for zero scholarships. This means my family has to pay around $44000 per year, with only $5500 in Stafford Loans for support. On the other hand, University of Hawaii's cost came out to around $18000 (in-state), which is completely covered by financial aid in the form of loans and grants.

I know Purdue is a great school for CS, and probably significantly better than UH in that regard, but is it worth paying that much to go?
