Paying back money

So I'm on a Pell Grant and at a community college. My financial aid was suspended from this college since I withdrew too many classes. I also don't want to continue at this college, since my classes are a waste of time (not relevant to my degree) and I plan to attend a better college. What is the best way to go about dropping my classes without having to pay any of this financial aid back? Do I just wait until W Day to withdraw?

I have a suspicion that your Pell Grant is above tuition and what you want to do is to keep the difference between Pell Grant and tuition without finishing the classes. If you drop below full time then you will not be able to keep full financial aid.

If your question has to do with not owing for the classes you withdrew from, then you have to drop the classes before the deadline which will be specific to your college.

I am enrolled in 10 credits currently. At the beginning of the quarter I was at 12. I dropped the 2 credit class and that put me on suspension for future quarters. And yeah, my Pell Grant is above tuition. My father died last summer so I was able to get quite a bit of financial aid. It’s just kind of confusing how this all works.

In order to retain the full amount of aid, you have to wait until a certain point in the term when you have earned 100% of your aid. Talk to your FA office for the date. Are you withdrawing from ALL classes? If not, you may not have to pay anything back. ASK the FA office.

I’m thinking about dropping both classes since they have become pointless, although I will keep one of them if I can avoid not paying anything back to the college and/or the Department of Education.
