How does one pay for a $30k education at one of these schools?

Financial aid. Many boarding schools have strong financial aid programs. These programs give need-based grants to students who can’t afford the 30k-40k tuitions. Just go on any school’s website and find the section on financial aid.

My dad invented online stock trading … retired when he was 35 … so yeah that’s how I will hopefully pay

Thanks for the info

Both schools we applied to appear to provide almost half their student body with FA.

Good news for us, since the schools my son has applied to cost almost as much as our annual income at $45k plus.

I was told early financial aid applications (before admissions deadlines generally) help, and that its not unheard of to receive upwards of 80% or more with demonstrated need.

Unfortunately, we just slid everything in under deadline, yesterday. FA at the schools he’s applying to are need-based only and first come first served for accepted applicants.

His dad is only a carpenter who occasionally dabbles in online stock trading, but we’re hopeful.

I will keep my fingers crossed for you…we were in the same kind of circumstances and it all worked out! Be prepared to pay a few more thousand than you think you can afford. I think they purposely tack a a few thousand more than the SSS people tell you that your contribution should be
