Paying for Brandeis

As a student for whom finances are a major part of my college decision, I was wondering about how realistic paying for Brandeis really is. My family is not doing so well in the economy, and as such I have almost all my education covered in federal loans, scholarships, and grants. But, the rest of it I plan on paying mostly by myself.

I was wondering if anyone knew how likely that is to happen in the Waltham area, or around Brandeis itself, apart from work-studies (which I plan on doing as well). Is it possible to make enough in the school year to supplement earnings in the summer to make it realistic, or should I make other plans?

I plan on going to Brandeis, while it was not my first choice in the beginning I am more than excited to be go there now, I just worry that I will not be able to pay for it if the job market in the area is not good enough.

I think Financial Aid officials are very conscious about meeting our need, I asked them to reconsider my aid, as the cost was almost impossible for me to bear, and they increased it full grant. Now I have to pay absolutely 0$ and that is with no loans. I think rather than working and earning on own, you should try to convince the officials first. It is definitely worth a try.

I was supposed to go with no aid, and I guess I still
can, but, it’ll be tough… do you know if I can apply for aid after
being accepted?

you file FAFSA each year, so if your family’s financial situation changes you will be able to obtain need-based aid.

also, you may keep in mind you can apply for the Brandeis Achievement Award before your junior year. you need a 3.5 and a lot of leadership experience [Financial Services | Brandeis University](<a href=“Office of Student Financial Services | Brandeis University”>Office of Student Financial Services | Brandeis University)
