Now that the acceptances for many cal poly students are coming in (me included ) what type of scholarships (and/or) how much financial aid is cal poly known for giving out to students of great need (particularly my case, family makes >$35,000.) I’ve completed FAFSA and Cal Grant if that helps.

Does your family make over 30k or under? Over some amount doesn’t provide much information.

sorry about that. Less than 35k.

What is your FAFSA EFC…?

Interestingly it says my EFC is $0, but I don’t know how this is possible. It does say this tidbit

Pell Grant Estimate - $5,550.00
Direct Stafford Loan Estimate - $5,500.00

Note that the FAFSA numbers are just estimates. Generally, the lower your EFC, the more financial aid you should receive. SLO is known for not giving out a lot of financial aid, but seeing as your EFC is 0, I’m sure you will get at least some grants (federal and cal). You will probably also have to get some loans under your name or your parents names.

I am in a similar situation as the OP.

I’m a 1st generation college student and my parents make less than $20K. I really want to go there, but money is holding me back. I was going to apply for the EOP, but I missed the darn deadline (January 30th)

Realistically, about how much would scholarships cover?
