Paying for Chapel Hill

Hi guys,

How and when does one pay for their tuition at Chapel Hill? By how I mean through bank transfer, credit card, or just straight up cash? And is there a site on Chapel Hill that let's me do this possibly before orientation?

Thanks

YOu can find all of this out on connect carolina. Just look around on that site, it notifies you when your bill is due, tells you how to pay it, etc.

Ok thank you :)

Sorry to necropost but my question actually still stands because I still haven’t received any notice to pay my tuition but I need to know ahead of time to get the money ready since I’m an international student (thus my banks are overseas).

So can any upperclassmen or parents help me out in finding out what method and when do I pay UNC?

I don’t think bills are due until August and will be posted on connect carolina about a month before. You can pay using any of the methods you listed above. You could always call the cashiers office to confirm. Wachovia bank accounts can be opened online if you wanted to have a bank to send your money to. Wachovia is also the bank that can be linked to your student ID.

What cookiebichon said - it’s all on Connect Carolina … have a Wacovia account is a good idea.

Easiest thing to do, imo, is to pay via the bank account directly. Just have a check with the account #s and routing info ready and just complete the transaction online. You can pay with a CC, but there’s a 2-3% processing fee, which makes it a really unattractive option.

You won’t be billed until after you attend your ctops session. Here’s the link to the FAQ…

Bills for Fall semester go out July 1 & are DUE August 9. UNC has partnered with a 3rd party entity to stagger payments. It costs an extra $47 to make monthly payments for the semester or $65 for the whole year. The first payment was due June 1 if you utilized this service so speak to the Cashiers office if it’s something you’re interested in doing. We got the forms in the mail yesterday & if you go to CTOPS parent orientation, one of the sessions you will attend goes into this in depth. If you do not attend, just call the Cashiers office…they are happy to help you.

Oh…you can pay a number of ways…check, VISA, electronic check, etc. Much like paying a regular bill. GET INFO ON PROXY! Bills go to student’s email so unless they give you permission to view the account by Proxy, you parents will never get a bill! This was so strange to me but if your student is like mine…please look into this & discuss with your student so you can view charges. VERY IMPORTANT!!!

It’s easiest to write a check and mail it in. If you wait until move-in there is inevitably an enormous line outside the cashier’s office. If your child has outside scholarships coming in you can subtract that amount from the current balance. I don’t recommend paying by credit card b/c I believe they still charge 2% for processing which is quite a bit on a $5000 bill.

Thanks for the replies guys. I’ll check ConnectCarolina on July to see if any dues come in, but I won’t be attending CTOPs till August 18~19.

I’m currently living overseas at the moment so a check won’t work since my family decided to move a lot of our cash to a South Korean bank. So I think I will wire the money directly to UNC.

I received a letter in the mail with information on paying.
